Spanish accents don't work. #2841
Comments
Could it be upstream Chromium issue? Have you tried searching upstream bugtracker? |
No, I don't know what that is, what is upstream? I would like you to explain to me how to do that, if that could solve it. If there is someone whose accent marks work in that version, it would be good to clarify, so I would know if the problem is happening to me alone, or to someone else. I can paste the accent marks in the texts, but I cannot type them with the keyboard. |
#2052 Looks very similar to your issue. Is it? |

For ungoogled-chromium Cromium is the "upstream"
You could search their bugtracker: https://issues.chromium.org/issues?q=letter+accents To me these reports look similar: https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40749839 https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40226673 https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40843551. Unfortunately it doesn't look like Google was actively working on a fix :( |
My problem is much more general than those, I can't write Spanish accents, not Icelandic, but anywhere, not just in passwords. I get an astronaut with the planet Saturn: https://issues.chromium.org/issues?q=%22accents%20mark%22
I have these errors: chromium --no-sandbox

I made the report now: |
I had a similar issue, but not only with Chromium, also with Thunderbird, Firefox, and some other applications. In Kate, Konsole, and the system, accents were recognized. In some applications, they worked, in others not (pretty crazy). I'm using Debian 12 KDE Plasma Wayland. Finally, after many tests, I managed to fix it by removing the im-config package, as ibus-panel was giving an error. Maybe it's your case, maybe it has nothing to do with it. |
I already tried with ibus and the problem persists, it is not my case. If I enter a page to detect the keyboard keys that I press, it detects one But if I write the tilde in the search bar, no character, no tilde, appears. |

Accents áéíóú do not work
How to Reproduce?
Press the key to the right of the ñ and then any vowel.
Actual behaviour
The accent marks do not work when I press the keys with the keyboard.
I am aware that this occurs in Chrome 102 onwards, and here in Chromium as well.
In Chrome 93 the accent marks work correctly.
Expected behaviour
I want the accent marks to work.
