The documentation for alias explains what it does but does not explain why it was added. I'm wondering what use case is supported by alias? I want to make sure my grammar authors are using it the right way. What happens if the alias is an existing rule? What if that rule is hidden? How does that compare when the alias is for a rule that doesn't exist?
TLDR: given all the ways that alias can possibly be used, what is the intended way to use it?
