I have tried various setting combinations but cannot get it to download both audio and video. otherwise, this app seems awesome! any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you screenshot your download options? And also, try opening the video with a modern media player like VLC

Try downloading VLC on your phone and seeing if the files run through the app. You could download new codecs but I find using a better media player is the easier option.

Its because youtube uses opus for audio, its a relatively new format and not every software supports it. You can download vlc on your phone too
