I was able to get the pf4j-spring configured with Spring boot and the plugins are working fine.

I am trying to get the properties configured in application.properties into one of the plugins and the properties are not getting resolved.

Is this possible? Or is there a way a do it?

Thx.

Try to take a look to issues section of pf4j. You will find a lot of nice information and interesting approach that are not present in documentation (yet).
To inject properties to extensions see pf4j/pf4j#308 (it's only as information, just in case that you will need it in the future).
For your particular case, I think that you need the approach described in pf4j/pf4j#187 (see in the footer other issues that did reference to this issue).
PF4J is very flexible (customizable) and powerful but unfortunately the documentation is not the best.
