I experienced trouble earlier when using the langfuse callback handler on langserve and tried to submit feedback on the client side. The observation id was completely hidden to me, and I could not properly submit the feedback, as it would go with the root trace rather than the specific observation (I had multiple LLM generations). To solve this, I injected the observation_id into the metadata so when I streamed events via langserve to the client I was able to keep track of them.
I am not sure if this is a good idea because it pollutes the metadata but it made integrating with langserve really easy.
