PM2 and Grouparoo

If you are running Grouparoo on machine image you manage yourself (as opposed to Docker, Kubernetes, or a platform-as-a-service like Heroku or Google App Engine)... or even a "bare metal" server, you'll need a way to keep the Grouparoo app up-and-running.

PM2 is a great application manager for node.js which can run processes in the background, monitor them, and restart them.
It’s like systemd for node! PM2 itself is managed by your Operating System’s init system (systemd, launchd etc), and then in turn keeps your processes running, manages logs, etc.

Here's how to get Grouparoo running with PM2:

# Install PM2
npm install pm2 -g

# Install PM2 into your OS's init system
pm2 startup # learn more @ https://pm2.keymetrics.io/docs/usage/startup/
# Follow the prompts

# start the grouparoo process
pm2 start --name grouparoo --interpreter=bash node_modules/@grouparoo/core/bin/start

# see process information
pm2 list # see running processes
pm2 logs # follow process logs (ie --tail)
pm2 monit # faincy process monitor
