Flameshot Version

Flameshot v12.1.0 (96c2c82)

Installation Type

Linux, MacOS, or Windows Package manager (apt, pacman, eopkg, choco, brew, ...)
Installed with msi

Operating System type and version

Windows 11 Pro 23H2

Description

Flameshot seems to have issues with dark backgrounds recently. I use it mainly to take screenshoot of commands results on dark shells. It seems to work alright, when I hit copy Falemshot quit as expected but then when I try to paste nothing.

What was weird was that it was sometimes working, sometimes not. Turns out it's working well when I'm not on a dark background. I've changed my shell settings to a light background, and now Flameshot doesn't have any problem anymore, but light shell is...bleh.
Note that it may still work sometimes with the dark background. But more often than not it won't paste when I have dark background, while it will always work well with the light background.
Also this is new, I hadn't had any problem using Flameshot on dark backgrounds up til then. I would like it to work again so that I can go back to my dark shell.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to a screen with dark background (like a shell)
  2. hit print screen; Flameshot opens
  3. Select the area to copy; edit it with tools as you like
  4. Hit copy button; Flameshot closes
  5. try to paste; nothing happens

I'm using Flux too, it may have an impact I guess. But I've tried to disable it and it changed nothing to the issue.

This is a weird issue. One thing I'm confident about is that we have not released a new stable version for quite some time, and the one you are using dates back to 2022-07-03. So nothing has changed on our side, perhaps something changes on your end.

Would you please try the portable version from our nightly-builds and see if the issue happens there too?

This is my work laptop, so IT group may have made changes without informing us but I've seen nothing out of the ordinary.
Your link sends me to a 404.

I've tried downloading the portable version, looks like it somehow gets the settings I already had with mine and works exactly the same. Bug still here. I tried to run it as admin too.

Sad note, I started having the problem even on light background. So maybe the background wasn't really the problem, or maybe it's somehow evolving idk. For now though, it looks like I have it only on one chrome tab, related to a remote machine. So I guess the problem may come from said machine (although I don't understand how)

EDIT: I've changed my config to allow the copy to be done with double-click. Looks like it's working way better that way (I was either using ctrl+C or the button). Still have some random fails, but a lot less (ctrl+C or the button fails nearly always and randomly works sometimes; double-click works nearly always and randomly fails sometimes)
Must really be linked to the remote machine; thinking about it and running some tests, the problem never appeared anywhere else.
