Only ESP32-C6 and the ESP32-H2 hardware have the same 802.15.4 radio circuitry so can support Zigbee or Thread, but both are relatively new so AFAIK, no one has yet volunteered to work on native Zigbee support (or native Thread support), but FYI, check out these feature requests (especially the first/top one): Note that the ESP32-C6 and the ESP32-H2 have the same 802.15.4 radio circuitry so support the same Zigbee and Thread SDKs/libraries, so any feature request about the ESP32-H2 also likely applies to the ESP32-C6 and vice versa. The main difference between their hardware is that the ESP32-C6 has a dual-core and WiFi, while the ESP32-H2 has a single-core and has no WiFi, however if do not use Zigbee or Thread and no WiFi at all then either can be ideal for battery-powered devices, (but if want to use both WiFi in combination with Zigbee or Thread then a mains-powered ESP32-C6 should be the best hardware choice). |

A little late with this comment, but..... Athom make smartplugs already running ESPHome, with various different plug types (and various other devices running ESPHome too): Since they're already running ESPHome, no need to open them up - just OTA update them same as any other ESPHome device. The YAML config they ship the plugs with is available here: They use a ESP8285 (which is a ESP8266 but faster & has more memory) and include a CSE7766 power consumption sensor - which is really handy for doing your own automations. I use these myself, and have been replacing all the smartplugs we have around the house with them. They're small, work well, and have been reliable (certainly smaller and much more reliable than the Kasa plugs I'm replacing. Cost less, too). The only thing on my wishlist for them would be switching to using a ESP32 to add Bluetooth support (since they're already scattered around the house, they'd be ideal for reading Bluetooth sensors). |

Hi everybody!
I have a couple of QN-WP01 (smart plugs) that I want to flash with ESPHome. I have tried to open them without breaking them, but they happen to be quite sturdy (which is good in general, but unfortunate in this case). Is there any place where I can find the board they use? Additionally: I am thinking in getting some more plugs / lights, but I'd like to give a try to zigbee. Are there any lines of products that are known to be supported by ESPHome? I really do not care about one brand or another, but I'd really prefer to buy something that I know will not turn to be problematic.
