Current repository state, Dev versus Master

This has a long of useful functionality and is referenced in AWS docs and blogs.
In looking at the master branch, the last release from master was cut on on 15-Mar-2017 and the dev branch is far beyond master with significant changes.

Is this project still maintained and what is the plan?
