Working with and inserting large pieces of data

I set downloads_folder: ./data in config.yaml and follow the tutorial of Working with external data sources(https://docs.superduperdb.com/docs/docs/walkthrough/referring_to_data_from_diverse_sources). The pdf data was generated in data folder but the file id was not found in mongodb instead of uri and encoder. How is data in MongoDB linked to local files?
