I've run into a situation where I restored messages from Android via the Move to iOS functionality and I've ended up with vast amounts of my SMS data duplicated. As in, each text message both sent and received has been duplicated. It's impractical go through and manually delete each message, so I've become curious about the possibility of manually writing SQL statements to edit chat.db or sms.db on the iPhone itself to fix this.
From looking at the layout of these databases it seems trivial to write some SQL to delete the duplicates. But I'm wondering if I do this will iCloud simple restore the deleted
message
rows? I realize this isn't 100% relevant to this repo and it's been stated that this project is not for write access as the maintainer doesn't want to take responsibility for people screwing up their message history, but in this case I'm fully assuming the risk myself, just looking for any tips or information about the nature of these databases.Beta Was this translation helpful?
