Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
If the file I'm copying already exists on the host device, copy_file will still copy it which takes time.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • Replace the underlying scp functionality with rsync, which only sends the necessary changes of the files being copied (i.e. if a file already exists, nothing gets sent)
  • rsync also provides the ability to change a files read/write/execute permissions
  • rsync is also a drop in replacement to scp meaning that the switch would not affect existing functionality

rsync could replace scp, or alternative functions could be added to support rsync
